Lux et Veritas/ City of Lux
I'm in New Haven June 11 to early July 8, then Paris till August 7th. Please talk to me... please!!! I'm totally open to a weekend visit to New York or somewhere else accessible.
So I was just going to leave the post at that, but I figure that you guys maybe deserve a little update. Freshman year is over, and I'm not sure how I feel about that! Right now, I am just hanging in Clarksville working in a tile factory (you can't beat the pay) and working out a lot as a proactive approach to a month of parisian pastries. So, my interests change pretty much everyday, and as I browse the course catalogue, I only grow sadder that I must focus myself on only one subject. Anthropology and Latin America really intrigue me and I could easily see myself working to make life better for the people I saw in the DR who live in horrible poverty. Also, I can see myself as a brooding academic, poring over dissertations and student essays my whole life. And then there is the nagging desire to spend my life writing, and not academically so. ! . Anyhow.
I am reading the book possession right now. It is amazing, but I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Also, has it ever occurred to you guys to do all the course reading you never actually made time for? Some of it is good, I have found, and it makes me feel less dirty about not getting it done in the first place.
Also, I am engaged.
psych!
have a great summer, you guys.
love,
josh
