Coming Off A Ten Day Hiatus
So as most of you know I work at "the movies". So I saw Akeelah and the Bee and United 93. Akeelah was excellent, I loved it. 93.... not so much. I didn't know what to think of it, I got into a brief discussion with drew on AIM last nite about it. Questions that were posited(so tasp) read; Should I feel guilty about basically fulfilling my fantasies of what it must've(in my view/the view of the director) been like for those people the last hours before their deaths? Or is it simply telling the story of a bunch of heroic souls? I didn't get the feeling that it perpetuated any stereotypes, that ran rampant post 9/11. In conclusion I wouldn't pay matinee price for this "film". But Akeelah is definitely worth the whole 8.25(alabama/b'ham prices).
In the words of a young 12 yr old patron, "United 93..... A movie every American should see"(This young-gun said this whilst I was refilling his 40 oz coke[not pop, yankees], I responded by giving him his coke and he walked off, just said the shit then turned and left, I then proceeded to laugh my ass off)
ps. perfect timing for Bush and the war situation, eh(for Layusa's Canadian self)
