fun with the Telluride Directory
While it may contain a few small foibles , the directory has proven to be a wonderful source of useless entertainment for me - way better than facebook, anyway. Googling random names has almost invariably delivered interesting information. My favorite thus far is Andrew Laties, SP76. Here's the first part of his bio:
"Andrew Laties, author of "Rebel Bookseller: How To Improvise Your Own Indie Store and Beat Back The Chains", has been agitating for power to the people since he grew his hair long as a nine-year-old to protest the Vietnam War. After a stint co-editing his high school underground newspaper, FightForward, he co-founded the Yale Summer Children's Theatre, then dropped out and moved to Chicago to study free jazz with the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, and theatre improvisation with Players Workshop of Second City." http://p6.hostingprod.com/@rebelbookseller.com/authorinfo.html (The rest of the bio is also entertaining and inspiring, if you care to check it out)
While it may be amusing to be associated with such shining lights as Fukiyama and Wolfowitz, it's only by learning about the stuff that non-famous taspers have done that makes me glad to be associated with this little organization. Power to the People.

2 Comments:
Fukuyama was on the Daily Show last Thursday!
Eve Sedgwick, whose work we read in CUII, was also a TASPer/CBTAer/TAer, I learned yesterday.
