Guy Fawkes was captured in the basement of parliament on the night of November 5, 1605 with numerous barrels of gunpowder. Tonight, the holiday named in his honor (or dishonor), is the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot.

Perhaps I'll dress up and go trick-or-treating to your room tonight to celebrate.

We made a bonfire at the house. Great fun. I'll post pictures sometime later if people want to see them. I started with a small paper version mounted on a skewer stuck in a dinner roll (formal dinner was tonight). I then enlisted one of our faculty guests to help put together a proper (mini-) bonfire in a small bbq grill.
