The Current Life of JDrag (a list)

1. I was not chosen for a major part in the senior class’s production of Footloose!, the most ground-breaking musical Hendersonville, North Carolina will ever see. I told some of you how much I wanted to be called Urleen or Wendy Jo or Betty, but it just didn’t work out. Instead, I am a townsperson, confined to wearing a prom dress with puffy sleeves and doing the pony in huge group-dance scenes. Just picture that for a moment. Me. Teased hair. Puffy sleeves. The pony.
Be happy.

2. I am preoccupied with food these days. I take strange pleasure in cooking things late at night and going to the grocery store. I make damn-good eggs benedict and crab bisque and scampi, so come visit me, and I will feed you. It’s beautiful here this time of year. There are mountains and lots of trees, the Grove Park Inn and the Biltmore House. Asheville is close, and it has great restaurants and music. Thomas Wolfe lived here. Carl Sandburg’s house, with the most wonderful goats in the world, is less than a mile from mine.

3. I am frequently amazed at how much I miss all of you. I flipped through the TASP book the day before yesterday and was sad. When my car ran out of gas a week or two ago and I was waiting to be rescued, my first thought was to call TASPers to pass the time. So, I did, instead of ensuring that I would not be murdered by highway vagrants in the time it took help to arrive. I take solace in the fact that you are alive.

So, anyway, love and really excellent postcards will be forthcoming. If you are undecided about your spring break plans, come see ME.

Last Thursday I had to choose between making a killer 3-egg omelet and arriving on time for my speech practice. Needless to say, I chose the former, to the acclamation and envy of my speech cohorts.
